Enjoying Your Visit At New Orleans

New Orleans, the largest city of Louisiana, found on a Mississippi River bend nearby the Gulf, the so-named Crescent City provides a mix of American, African, Caribbean and European architecture, culture and dinning.

The heart and soul of the city is the French Quarter that has many shops, gorgeous galleries, restaurants, pubs, jazz club, so a terribly Good night life. In the event you walk through Bourbon Street, the French Quarter’s liveliest and wildest road, you will hear the rhythmic sounds of jazz, country western, Dixieland and sultry blues penetrate the air.

On the corner of Rue Bourbon and Rue Bienville, you’ll discover the Old Absinthe House bar. The cooper-topped wood bar captivates patrons as they sip their favorite beverages and the sights and sounds of the French Quarter drip into this comfy pub.

Jackson Square, situated on the Mississippi River, on Decatur Street, is a must-see place. It is actually full of street artists, instrumentalist, jugglers, historical buildings and the Moon Walk, catering a breath-taking sight of the Mississippi River.

The French Quarter is a National Historic Centre. Many of the city’s museums and galleries and historic homes could be found here. The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA), has just opened a fun filled exhibition -Femme, femme, femme: Paintings of Females in French Society by such painters as Renoir, Degas, Manet, Toulouse-Lautrec and Picasso.

Established in 1963, the Mus?e Conti Historical Wax Museum is one other highlight in New Orleans. It has beautifully realistic wax sculptures that log the history of New Orleans. There are also alternative distinguished figures: musicians, film stars. Guests can experience the Haunted Dungeon, used by ‘Masters of the Macabre,’ for example Edgar Allen Poe and Victor Hugo. You could also host parties and receptions here.

New Orleans is distinguished for its festivals, all year long. There are many more than 400 festivals every year, including Mardi Gras, Woodoo Fest, and Jazz Fest. Mardi Gras is the day before Christian Holy Day, a carnival with thousands of fabulous molded props, and super giant figures. On Mardi Gras Day the city is shut down, adults go to the street and have party.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is a 10 day cultural and music event consisting of 2 principal components: the Louisiana Heritage Fair and the Evening Concerts. The Louisiana Heritage Fair highlights over 600 musicians on 12 stages, a marvelous range of classic Louisiana dinning, crafts and art displaying the talents of artisans from around the state and world. The Evening Concerts take place at various spots around New Orleans.

Just about 2 years after Katrina, New Orleans is alive again and worth a visit. February through April is the best possible time to go on, when the weather is Good and when you can take advantage of the city’s 2 most amazing events, Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest.
